Watch The Forbidden Kingdom film. A film “The Forbidden Kingdom” by Rob Minkoff. This movie will be enjoyed by any Jet Li or Jackie Chan fans, certainly. The cinematography is wonderful, with stunning views, excellent use of CGI without overdoing it, and decent acting. Jet Li plays his role marvelously, and the continuity of the various plot themes is fantastic. You need to understand that this is a rare appearance by two masters who will probably never get together again. As for the English, don’t fret on that. I have a lot of trouble with these kinds of movies. The small bits of humor throughout and the beautiful unique imagery really capture and engage. [..YouTube..] Last time I checked this was a movie, not a book. This movie looks alot like Musa…I am not amused by this overly glossy, CGI enhanced kungfu. But maybe this is because I’ve seen so many real kung fu movies that I’ve developed high standards for action. Who knows? Maybe I’d like this film if I’d never explored beyond mainstream, watered-down, hollywood action.

They’ve made many in Hong Kong with Asians, Jet made Romeo.. with Blacks, Jackie made Rush.. with Tucker, Sonny Chiba, Legends..with a Black kid, Lee with Norris, Kareem, etc. had all bases covered, it’s called marketing. I just saw the movie with a sellout crowd here in Europe, must say, from a kids perspective it is awesome. And you can bet a gazillion more kids will be signing up for classes here after having their heads filled with dreams of glory, ha, heeyah!

[..YouTube..] Even from an adult’s perspective it scores highon fight choreography, cinematography, and acting, even if the plot is a somewhat cliched Karate Kid meets West Side Story meets an amalgamation of Hong Kong Kung Fu flicks. The fight scenes, other than the wire work jumps and flying stuff, have real move for move sequences. Very well executed by the cast in general.

Fans of the story will probably see it regardless of who’s in it but for everyone else the actors are the draw. That’s why they put in actors people have heard of even if they don’t necessarily fit the role appearance wise.
