Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are outstanding character actors, though they’re invariably positioned as Hollywood glamour figures. That’s just a distraction; they’re terrific technical actors, capable of a great range of characters and complex scenes. Despite the wonder and awe of the film, mixed with the realism that Fincher always brings, the true allure of the film is not just Benjamin’s aging problem, but the romance between Benjamin and Daisy, which is beautiful. I left the theater astonished that some one could review this movie badly. It is an extremely graceful depiction of life, love, and the things we lose. [..YouTube..] I read the short story before watching the movie and to say it was based on it is stretching it…But all in all each one is great in their own ways. I think the story was written as a farce so I laughed the whole way through, and while the movie has its funny moments it sort of bombards you at the end with emotion… I’ll admit I did well up near the end.See the movie and if at all possible read the short story, you won’t be disappointed.

It follows a cliché plot of lovers torn apart and kept from eachother who ultimately find eachother in the end. Also the whole dementia part was just kind of insulting. And when I said terrible I meant that I do not like it. What else would I mean? And I have won several writing contests, so apparently I can tell a good story.

The characters in The Notebook are about as mundane as they come. ESPECIALLY McAdams’ character. I was more interested in Gosling’s widowed lover. Compare her to Blanchett who portrays a bold, compelling woman. Also, Benjamin Button does not follow your annoying happy ending; it had a splendid ending, which completely sent the movie’s message.
