Watch Return to Sleepaway Camp film. A film “Return to Sleepaway Camp” by Robert Hiltzik. As far as horror movies go, Sleepaway Camp is definitely one of my favorites. Hiltzik was the original writer and director of the 1983 cult classic so there were high hopes for this film, which went through a decade of delays, cancellations and even a lawsuit. the deaths in this are far from surprising or tragic, but they’re clearly grotesque and intentionally guffaw-oriented. We have a sheriff often popping up after murders take place trying to keep everyone civil as a killer is on the loose. The direction is paced more smoothly than the original. The laughs are not quite as silly as the sequels. It’s an uncomfortable horror movie. I like it this way. if you’re too literally horror-seeking, you aren’t going to be happy. AND they had the nerve to ignore the 2nd and 3rd S.C. movies and it was quite obvious who the killer was. Stupid, stupid movie and such a letdown

[..YouTube..] I hate how people call “Return to Sleepaway Camp” the “Official” sequel, implying that parts 1 & 2 are not “official”. Who decides what is “official” in that respect? Robert Hiltzik “officially” sold the sequel rights to someone else, who then “officially” had the sequels made. They are “official”. Just because Return to Sleepaway Camp ignores them and Hiltzik has a bug up his butt about them doesn’t make them “unofficial”. Hiltzik has alienated a few fans with his attitude about the sequels.
