[..YouTube..] I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t know what the hell Star Trek was about before watching this movie–nor did I care, but I decided to give it a shot…man, was I surprised. GREAT movie. I enjoyed every second of it.

[..YouTube..] STRAIGHT out of the academy. And he’s a Starfleet cadet who demonstrated that he can command a starship when he needed to. Especially since he and the Enterprise all but single handedly saved the Federation from a ship from the future that threatened it. Gee, I wonder why they would put him in command?

[..YouTube..] Illogical that the Vulcan masters (not council) would state the obvious, especially when they knew it was an insult to Sarak and Spock. But I digress. My main problem with this film was it did not have a main moral theme. Whether, or not it is obvious. The morals of the story are - Nero revenge is stupid, Spock acceptance, Kirk work hard never give up, Uhura standup for your self, Checkov Speak English, and Sulu learn to drive. See no central theme. Its crap.

[..YouTube..] The ability to command is with in everyone. The hard part is to obey orders. No one would be given the responsibility of command unless they can first obey orders. Another requirement for command is respecting the chain of command. The final requirement of command is the ability to work with others and not force people into doing what you want them to do, but to get them to volunteer. Kirk did not display any of these characteristics in the movie. There is no way he would have gotten command.

When you are lightyears away from home, and no real real-time communications, starship commanders have to be independent, because they cannot rely upon central command all the time. [..YouTube..] Kirk was under orders not to go on any of the ships. That is what grounded means. He then was under orders to obey Spock. That is the first officers duty. To give alternatives, and see that the captains orders are carried out. In stead Kirk picks an argument with Spock. The only time a soldier can reject an order is if it puts that solder in unnecessary danger or if the order goes agents the law. Kirk was an arrogant SOB; who thought he knew more then experienced officers & just got lucky.

And his wife the first Doctor of the Enterprise. Gen Roddenbarry said that sence Robert April was the original name of the Captain in his scripts that makes it official.

[..YouTube..] This movie was amazing, I’ve watched every episode of the original Star Trek, so the new actors played them well… All I can say is I think Bondfreek should stick to Bond… If Kirk hadn’t been the arrogant SOB (which he is inTOS) & made Captain, It wouldn’t be called Star Trek now, would it… I guess the animated series suits you better… Captain Pike was the original Captain in TOS.

The first officer may be loyal to the Captain, but he is also loyal to the Federation. Another one of those not following orders blindly. If he feels the orders are incorrect or wrong, he does have the right to confront the captain. How many times has Will Decker confronted Kirk on that? Hm?

[..YouTube..] No, Kirk did not. He did not give alternatives he told Spock that the only thing he must do is to rescue Pike. Spock disagreed pointed out that the logical thing to do was to get help. Spock rejected Kirk’s “advice” then Kirk through a temper tantrum. Watch TMP again. Decker did not, once he realized Kirk had made up his mind he backed off. Decker did not countermand Kirks orders of no self defense posture, nor did he keep screaming at Kirk when his suggestions were rejected.

The title of the episode is “Yesteryear”. You even get to see Spock’s pet, mentioned in Journey to Babel. It is also in the animated series when we find out Kirks middle name is Tiberius in the episode called “Bem”.

Plus, read the classic books when they were new. No one knows more about Star Trek then me except maby the ones who watched rEnterprise. And I can say without hesitation that with the exception of this movie Kirk has never been an SOB. Confident to the point of arrogents but not arrogent.

[..YouTube..] If you had pay attention you would know that the only reason Kirk was acting like that is that he got command of the Enterprise by the skin of his teeth. He was worried about loosing his command if he failed the mission. As McCoy pointed out It was blinding him form his duties. It took him most of the movie but he finely realized what a jerk he was being. We all have those times when we act out of character because we want some thing badly. Whether its respect, a job, or some thing of value.

The fans wanted the 5 year mission to be completed that was the purpose of the animated series. [..YouTube..] Arena Kirk reacted like any of us would have when innocent women and children are slaughtered. And he did listen to Spock but then quickly rejected it. Spock follows regulations and respected Kirks decision. Errand of Mercy Kirk was understandably mad because of others interfering with privit affares, He quickly repented when the lead Oregonian pointed out that by not being in favor of the interference he was supporting war. Kirk is a flawed human. Defending rights, is not arrogances.

Hyperspace is a subspace dimension that allows the ship to travel through the “core” of space.(like worm holes work)Warp space is not another kind of space micro or macro. It is the process in which space is literally bent out of shape. Our own system is managed by warp space. (Wikipedia warp space.) Warp drive takes this to the extreme by shortening the distance between spaces.

By verifying this, by definition a wormhole is a shortcut through space while hyperspace is defined as an alternate region of space co-existing with our own universe.In fact a worm hole is more closely related to “warp drive” than hyperspace.

A little clever tweaking of the continuity like that black hole that sucked Nero and Spock back in time saved the movie from expectations that it would somehow connect with the previous ones. This is now a completely different story. I admit i was not a Trekkie, but now I am. Loved the movie and the stellar acting!

The Romulans are from the Old Star Trek Future, set, I would say, 10-20 years after Kirk’s death in Generations. The Romulans go back in time and irrevocably CHANGE the Past, i.e., the Present you are watching. And a giant 3d image of the command badge appears with the 3d image of the title, with bad music. Next we see kid Kirk driving a classic car with a cell phone in the car. The kid drives it off a cliff and uses super powers to jump out of the car, going 60mph. When the Robot Cop asks him his name he gets all huffy and gives his full name. (pointless) To be Continued.

[..YouTube..] Star Trek Break Down: the academy part4. The Admirals summoned all the cadets to discipline Kirk.(Reality this sort of embarrassing thing would be handled discreetly and quietly.) The whole incident is being treated like a trial. & this is how Kirk meets Spock. Spock illogically hits Kirk below the belt regarding his cheating. (In TWOK & TNG Cadets did not take the test only officers who wish to rise to captain some day.) With out a ruling the cadets are ordered to hanger 1. To Be Continued.

Let’s see = Poor quality camera version, or full 1080 prestine version in surround sound… which sounds better?

He points out that their primary fleet is engaged in the Lorensian system (not majority, not every ship but the ones around Earth) Instead of recalling ships and assigning officers to the new fleet he sends cadets into an unknown situation that could kill them all. [..YouTube..] Star Trek Break Down:the academy part5 In the hanger Kirks name is not called, so he inquires& finds out second hand that he is on Academic Suspension aka Grounded until there is a ruling. Kirk uses his sad eyes to give McCoy a guilt trip. McCoy uses a magic rule that allow him to take a patient on to a ship. (Wait a second If A patient needs constant care then would it not be better to ground the doctor, instead of putting the patient in harms way?) To Be Continued.

[..YouTube..] Star Trek Break Down:the academy part6 Uhura gets up set because she was assigned to the Faroget. She gives a logical complaint to Spock. Spock says he was trying to avoid favoritism. (STOP THE FILM! It is illogical to worry about favoritism!) And then she orders (ORDERS) Spock to put her on the Enterprise, and he complies!? (Illogical) Mean wile McCoy gives a horrible viral infection to Kirk to get him on to the Enterprise.(Does McCoy know how Kirk is going to react?He could Die!)To Be Cont.

[..YouTube..] Star Trek Break Down: The Enterprise part1. When the shuttle flies by the Enterprise heading toward the docking bay, the audience is bombarded with quick shots of peaces of the ship with lens flares galore and music that sounds like a villains theme from Lost. The Shuttle bay looks like a construction site jammed with parked shuttles. The shuttle does not land on the main plat form and then robotically put it away, like in the animated series, it parks it self like in Futuroma. To Be Continued.
