Every time he promises to attend one of his son’s school events or play with him, Carrey finds some excuse to get out of it. His son makes a birthday wish that just for one day his dad would tell the truth and it happens. Carrey is incapable of lying and when he tries to lie, his face and body go into every contortion imaginable as he tries to suppress the truth. The actors have great performances. Jim Carrey is great as Fletcher Reede, but there are other equally good actors, like Maura Tierney as Audrey Reede, Cary Elwes as Jerry and little Justin Cooper as Max. My sister isn’t a Jim Carrey fan and even admitted that she had more than a few good laughs watching this film. Not to mention that it has a great feel good ending that you’ll just fall for. I love seeing the dynamic between the brothers, Sam and Dean. It seems that no matter what has happened in the past, family is family. I imagine this show is a production nightmare. Jensen Ackles is cast as Dean, the elder brother who may sport a cocky, devil-may-care attitude outwardly but beneath the surface is very needy and emotionally vulnerable thanks to his almost neglectful upbringing and precarious bond with his father while Jared Padalecki plays younger brother Sam, depicting the character’s determination for both normality and revenge as well as his deep love for his elder brother who practically raised him.Jared Padalecki excels in portraying Sam, and his evolution along the seasons, but I have to admit that Jensen Ackles is just STUNNING. He really made the character that Dean Winchester is now. If you are new to the show I would definitely suggest watching right from the beginning, not only to follow the brothers story, but to also see how Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles’ acting abilities have grown from strength to strength. I thought, “Great, they took this classic American slasher flick and turned it into a white trash festival.” But once Michael started talking (which he never does in the original film) something clicked, and I was hooked. What we have here is noisy, distasteful, pointless, and sloppy. Everyone speaks leftover dialogue from THE DEVIL’S REJECTS, and what worked for those characters fails miserably for these. Billed as a ‘retelling’ of John Carpenter’s original, a somewhat, if only marginally better version, this edition of “Halloween” supposedly provides an explanation of the causes of Michael Myers’ homicidal psychosis, to wit, his excessively foul-mouthed and dysfunctional parents, who, as characters are as creek-shallow as the rest of the cast. Michael Myers was pretty much supposed to be just pure evil without there ever really being a reason, thats what pretty much scared me about the originals. Especially putting his talentless wife in all of his movies is really annoying. If she had any REAL talent, wouldn’t she be in other people’s projects that weren’t directed by her husband?.
