Letters from Iwo Jima - watch free

Watch Letters from Iwo Jima film. A film “Letters from Iwo Jima” by Clint Eastwood. To the Japanese, Iwo jima was a part of their homeland where a foreign invader was going to land and begin its invasion on Japanese soil. n October, Clint Eastwood launched the hyped ”Flags of our Fathers”, that was said to be the champion of the year. However, the movie was a huge disappointment, proving to be a clichéd war drama that added nothing new to the genre. Ken Watanabe shines as general Tadamishi Kuribayachi (or something similar). He shows why he’s one of the most talented Japanese actors around and proves he deserves another Oscar nomination. The strangest part of all. Clint Eastwood has made a Japanese movie that the Japanese should have made. This movie shows better than any other film that there’s really no good guys or bad guys when it comes to war. War is just pointless. Watch free full Letters from Iwo Jima film online.

Faith of My Fathers - watch free

Watch Faith of My Fathers film. A film “Faith of My Fathers” by Peter Markle. his story is a great tribute to those who withstood the horror of being a prisoner of war not only during the Vietnam War, but any conflict. The story (McCain’s harrowing experiences as a POW) should make one appreciate what McCain has given to his country but my lasting impression of this film is Hatosy’s work. When you compress a long book into a hour and a half the viewer only gets a glimpse of the event. I love the part with grandpa and when John talks to his father and the reply is that John left nothing behind. But that is no excuse and you can see that in this story of how one man stood high and above his captors and never lost his respect for himself or the other prisoners there with him. A very good story dealing with military honor, call to duty and undying patriotism by our men and women in uniform. Watch free full Faith of My Fathers film online now..!!

Patton - watch free film

Watch Patton film. A film “Patton” by Franklin J. Schaffner. Patton was a man who lived for war. As a leader of men, he was exceptional. His speech at the beginning of the movie is vintage Patton, an almost exact reproduction of a speech Patton actually gave to Third Army. The performance of George c scott as Patton is brilliant, it shows a complex and demanding character riddled with contradictions.
I also wished that the movie had pointed out that in WW1, Patton commanded the first ever American tank battalion, and was severely wounded in battle, yet kept fighting until he just about passed out from loss of blood. According to his theory of war, Patton would drive all the way to Palermo on the northern coast of Sicily, slicing the island in half… But his finest moment comes during the massive German counteroffensive in the Ardennes. Lastly, how accurate is the film? Not a clue, and even if it is completely false, I don’t care. I’ve never been about writing history papers based on cinema experiences. As a mini-biography, as an introduction to WWII, as a lesson in leadership under tremendous adversity or just for pure inspiration, Patton is one of the great films of my lifetime. The Bridge on the River Kwai - watch free film

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Watch The Bridge on the River Kwai film. A film “The Bridge on the River Kwai” by David Lean. This film is long (161 minutes), is almost 40 years old, and yet still is terrific, still holds up and will forever, I suspect, be considered one of the greatest war movies ever made. As an integral part of their war effort, the Japanese have ordered a strategic bridge to be built across the Kwai River to facilitate the transport of troops and equipment. Awarded the DSO for heroism during the defence of Singapore, he refused an order to join the evacuation so he could remain with his men during captivity. In the hellish conditions of the camp, he worked courageously to ensure that as many of his men as possible would survive. The Bridge on the River Kwai- a war movie or an anti-war movie? I think Lean clearly preferred the latter, but the subject matter and his approach to it may have landed somewhere in between. this message has only recently been re-evaluated with the also-brilliant masterpiece “Saving Private Ryan.” But, keep in mind that it took forty years to regain the power that this film inspired so long ago. Casualties of War - watch free

Watch Casualties of War film. A film “Casualties of War” by Brian De Palma. The leader of a small platoon (Sean Penn) kidnaps an innocent Vietnamese girl (he plans to use her as a prostitute), over the objections of one of the soldiers (Michael J. Fox). I have never been able to figure out why this movie has never gotten much attention. Thuy Thu Le is also impressive as the victim-her performance is so convincing that I’m surprised that she hasn’t appeared in the other movies. This is not one of his masterpieces, but it is something he should be proud of. The film has a very anti-war message, but the content should not distract from the skillful way in which this movie is presented. De Palma should get a decoration too because he has disregarded his cheesier tendencies as a director. Another De Palma might have handled that rape scene quite differently, as an opportunity for the audience to identify with the rapists and a chance to display some succulent female flesh. These are the profound questions which underlie the action in this disturbing film. Watch free full Casualties of War film online.

The Pianist - watch free

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Watch The Pianist film. A film “The Pianist” by Roman Polanski. The Pianist is the true story of Wladyslaw Szpilman, at the time Poland’s most acclaimed pianist whose life is transformed during the Nazi occupation of Warsaw beginning in 1939. The Pianist follows up and coming piano player Wlad Spielzman from his days as a local hero to a prisoner of war to his time in the ghettos, surviving only by the kindness of strangers. I think many people have touched on this before but what makes this film so amazing and well crafted is because Spielzman is a man that we can all relate to. Polanski’s film deserves a strong presence in the 2003 Oscar nominations, including a nomination for Adrien Brody’s amazing performance, Polanski’s sublime direction, best adapted screenplay and, obviously, best picture.
