Watch The Proposition film. A film “The Proposition” by John Hillcoat. Following the rape and murder of a colonial family, outlaw brothers Charlie and Mikey burns are captured by ruthless local lawman, Captain Stanley. Just superb - wonderful, austere direction that gets the best from a great cast and some extraordinary landscapes. The violence connects you with the feelings and thoughts of the characters and conveys the the mood of the era - I came away feeling as if I had experienced living in “wild” Queensland. The film is a strangely skewed morality tale crossed with a tale of the absurd. I did not believe that our early settlement revolved around the gun mania of American settlement but I was not bothered by the gun culture shown in The Proposition. The story is uniquely presented, different enough that it kept me very involved wondering what was coming next. An extraordinary film and I hope against hope that it will be eminently successful and therefore lead to the creation of other films. Watch free full The Proposition film online.
Watch Dead Man film. A film “Dead Man” by Jim Jarmusch. What a movie! Jim Jarmusch casts a skeletal Johnny Depp as an observer who learns to write blood poetry with his pistol in this dream Western. I re-watched this movie a week ago and I’m still amazed by how Jarmusch gets under my skin and makes me think. Jarmusch plays with one of his favorite themes here: death. But of course, he’s not limiting himself to that. Young accountant William Blake (Johnny Depp) seems to have lost everything as his parents have died and his fianceé left him without a reason; so he decides to take a job in Machine, a town located at the end of “civilization” in the Wild Wild West. This script must have touched something deeply spiritual in all of them and I, if I were them, would have felt as if I wasn’t even in the film. Help by a haunting and beautiful score from Neil Young and an extraordinary cast the film succeed in transforming the wood wagon of hell in which William Blake embarks to the wooden vessel to heaven in which he will lie. Watch A Gunfighter’s Pledge film. A film “A Gunfighter’s Pledge” by Armand Mastroianni. A bad guy wants to grab off a small landowner’s land and only a laconic wanderer can save the pretty ranch owner having killed her man by accident runs along in its well greased way. Perry stays to help, and crosses paths with a mustache-twirling villain right out of dudley do right, played by a sneering Thomas Howell in a big black hat and attire. Watch Maverick film. A film “Maverick” by Richard Donner. A good mix of comedy, drama, suspense and nice scenery all make this a pleasing viewing experience. Mel Gibson’s Maverick is a bit more goofy than James Garner’s, but is every bit as charming, sly, and entertaining. The best thing about “Maverick” is the ‘fun’ feeling that this movie has. You can tell that the actors worked on this movie with lots of pleasure and fun. Mel Gibson is a wonderful and fun leading man as Bert uhmm I mean Bret Maverick. They encounter a group of settlers that have been robbed by Indians, or at least who believe they have been robbed by Indians, and Bret agrees to help them get back their stuff for a cut of the money he’d be recovering for them. It’s a great escape movie for 2 hours and filled with just as much comedy as it is with action. A great film to watch-Magictrain. Watch free full Maverick film online.
Watch High Noon film. A film “High Noon” by Fred Zinnemann. Gary Cooper’s greatest role, at 50, as the newly-married sheriff, Will Kane, left to fend for himself against his returning enemies. This is a perfect presentation for black and white. Color would have diminished the sense of impending death that builds relentlessly with each coward’s refusal to help Marshal Kane. I normally liked to be lightly entertained by a movie. This movie provides a glimps at so many varied characters, showing such a variety of emotions and complex personal issues. The interaction of the town’s responsibilities for maintaining law and order and Cooper’s personal pride and integrity have been dealt with in various ways in other films. This is a film to treasure. Watch Love’s Unending Legacy film. A film Love’s Unending Legacy by Mark Griffiths. When looking up this movie, I noticed another movie due out later this year. I wonder if they had to rush this one in some fashion given they had two so close together. This might explain the somewhat lackluster nature of the film in some respects. I love those books and do not understand why it is so hard to make movies that align more with stories and plots in them. I know some books are hard to make into movies and need some dramatization. This movie was a lot better then Love’s Abiding Joy but I was still disappointed with it. There were to many loose ends. I felt like I was watching an episode of Little House on the Prairie. Watch Dances with Wolves film. A film “Dances with Wolves” by Kevin Costner. This movie’s depiction of Native Americans is not nearly as politically correct as it may seem to those who watch it only once or only at a superficial level. In the very first scene depicting Indians, in fact, a Pawnee brave shoots one of the white characters full of arrows and then scalps him. he cast is excellent, Kicking Bird, Stands with Fist, Wind in his Hair and my quiet favorite smiles a lot, smiles a Lot had trouble with growing up and becoming a brave, until it is forced on him, his mood after he has killed the first time is priceless. I suggest every history teacher show this film in their classes so future generations can see what a proud race of people the native americans are, and what we did to them. Watch Open Range film. A film “Open Range” by Kevin Costner. In “Open Range,” we are drawn to two men running from their pasts, an aging lonely cowboy, Boss Spearman (Duvall), and his long time second hand man Charley Waite (Kevin Costner). Luna (Button) and Benrubi (Mose) are both destined for greatness. Gambon (Baxter) and Duval (Boss) have been around long enough to do things right. Bening (Sue) is a better (and better-looking) actress than ever before. I have not seen another film that captured the beauty of the title character (the open range, nyuk nyuk) in such a light. While I’m sure that at least some of the footage was shot in a studio, and picturesque backdrops appeared to be inserted in the terrain at some points. The film’s cinematography is superb, due in part to the green, forested mountain slopes against the stunning snow-capped peaks, marked with occasional torrential thunderstorms. Watch Tombstone film. A film “Tombstone” by George P. Cosmatos. ombstone delivers an action-adventure popcorn movie that doesn’t have to be campy and one-dimensional to be enjoyable. The acting is incredible in this film. I’m not a huge Kurt Russell fan, but he played his role very well. Among others, I consider this one of Val Kilmer’s best performances. Kilmer has only 31 scenes but manages to steal every one of them with a solid, beautifully thought and felt impersonation of a Southern gentleman, owing a bit to Tennessee Williams’ famous drawl. The movie does ‘belong’ to Val Kilmer. He gave a real sense of fatalism as ‘Doc’ Holliday, wanting to die in a blaze of gunfire rather than fading away from tuberculosis. Watch Rio Bravo film. A film “Rio Bravo” by Howard Hawks. The story itself is a composite of all the elements needed to make a great Western: good guys in white hats, bad guys in black hats, townspeople content to stand aside and to let the battle be fought between the outlaws and the man with the tin star. Howard Hawks initially wanted to reunite John Wayne and Montgomery Clift who had worked so well together in Red River in his second film with Wayne. The script is excellent and the supporting cast is memorable (Walter Brennan steals many scenes as an old timer). I could go on and on about the film’s great attributes, but I’m just going to say that I believe this movie is one of the great American films. Watch free full Rio Bravo 1959 film online.
