Besides being an enormously entertaining movie, “Bonnie and Clyde” was an important 1960’s landmark film in a couple of ways. “Bonnie and Clyde” is a real innovative film in the fact that it does contain some extremely violent content. 1967 was a different time in the cinema. The story is of two Texas young adults who, bored with their lives and the prospects of going nowhere in the world, decide to live out their dreams of stardom by going on a crime spree. The finale is still to this day a triumph of audience manipulation. The two bandits, finally captured and unable to escape, are dealt with in a fashion that will haunt you days after viewing. It’s sad, it’s disgusting, but it brings closure to the lives of two individuals whose works and existence could not be tolerated by the powers that be. The most haunting scene in the film is the one in which Bonnie visits her mother for one last time, and her mom tells her what the audience has known all along but hasn’t consciously acknowledged until that point. Watch Bandits film. A film Bandits by Barry Levinson. This could’ve been just another “Bonnie and Clyde”-style crime caper, but it’s more than that. If you appreciate deeper levels of subtlety and are prepared to suspend hard-nosed reality for the duration, you will love this one. Reminds me of Cohen Bros movies. If you are prepared to relax into it and let the movie take you where IT goes, you are in for a good ride. Just as soon as they switch getaway cars, Joe and Terry rob a bank to finance their upcoming adventures. Bruce Willis does his usual cool act. The story isn’t too deep, so don’t watch this if you want something thats going to make you think, but it is definitely an amusing premise, and the odd clever moments serve well enough to raise extra smiles. Considering that the film is a PG-13 rated, two-hour long comedy which deals with crime, and has some drama integrated in it, it’s really good. Worth mentioning is the lesser-known actor, Troy Garity, as Joe’s cousin Harvey, whom Joe talks into joining the gang. Harvey is an aspiring LA stuntman who ends up driving the getaway car for each heist. The movie is beautifully filmed in interesting places and there are even a few classy automobiles around. Watch Mr. Bean’s Holiday film. The basic story is that Mr. Bean wins a ticket to Cannes, where he accidentally separates a young boy from his father. Bean must help the kid find his father again. Mr. Bean wins a trip to Cannes where he unwittingly separates a young boy from his father and must help the two come back together. On the way he discovers France, bicycling, and true love, among other things. I even thought this one was better than the first one, especially in the second half of the movie. The end was a bit over the top, but that’s only for the last two minutes, you will see why. You know what? Shame on us America. That we need the big bang, the flatulence, and the double entendre to amuse our soured idea of comedy. There are of course aspects which have been included to accommodate an international audience but that is expected. In an effort not to give any of the film away and there’s little dialogue to quote all I can say is that I enjoyed the film and felt that.
